Fountain Hills’ biggest car show is expanding this year to fill Fountain Park. The 7th annual Concours in the Hills is a charity event sponsored by Gila River Hotels & Casinos.
This is not a “white gloves” kind of concours. Guests will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while browsing all kinds of cars: high-performance, sports, classic, race, muscle, off-road, hot rods, and both import and domestic motorcycles.
Peter Volny started this show in his hometown of Fountain Hills in 2014. After growing up in Australia, Volny moved to England to race cars. When he retired, he and his wife decided the only place they wanted to live was in America and chose to make Fountain Hills their home 16 years ago. He chose it for the location of the Concours in order to show off the community to the 25,000 visitors who attend the event.
As a childhood cancer survivor, he created this event to raise money for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital with a goal to create a playroom where kids can go to play and forget about their troubles for a couple of hours. Last year’s event raised $155,000.
Admission for the event and parking are free. There will also be 14 food trucks to serve breakfast, lunch, and assorted refreshments.
Concours in the Hills is February 8 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, although cars will start arriving as early as 6:00 am.
