This is the first in a series where one of our team members shares one of their favorite aspects of Fountain Hills.
Vicky Derksen is Dori Wittrig’s administrative and marketing assistant. She traded the Pacific Northwest for the Sonoran Desert and settled in Fountain Hills 22 years ago.
“I didn’t like Arizona when I first moved here because everything was brown,” Vicky said. “Moving to Fountain Hills gave me a greater appreciation for living here because the views are spectacular. But what really pushed me to fall in love with it was hiking.
“Reaching a higher viewpoint and being able to see across impossibly long distances of mountaintops is breathtaking. I hiked in different areas of the state and realized this is a stunning place to live!”
Vicky loves that there are so many nearby hiking trails for people who live in Fountain Hills. “It only takes a few minutes to reach a wide variety of trails.”
If you enjoy hiking, check out some of Vicky’s favorite local trails:
- Lake Overlook Trail
- Fountain Hills Botanical Garden Trail
